Jerusalem is a very important and interesting city that is the center for many religions, history, and numerous cultures. There are so many sites to see from religious, to archaeological, to historical, that’s it’s hard to know where to start, and what to see.

Definitely check out the Old City, which is Jerusalem’s main attraction. Walk through the Church of the Holy Sepulchre that is said to mark the site of Calvary or Golgotha, or see the Citadel (Tower of David), which once held Herod the Great’s palace, and is now the site of the Museum of the History of Jerusalem. Check out the Dome of the Rock, where it is said that the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, and is one of the holiest sites for the Muslim religion. The Al-Aksa Mosque is one of the world’s largest and most important mosques, and the Temple Mount was once the site of Solomon’s Temple, and considered holy ground by three of the world’s religions.
Some museums of interest, are the Bible Lands Museum whose exhibits are said to be physical evidence of things described in the Bible, or the Israel Museum, which houses the famous Dead Sea Scrolls. The Yad Vashem museums is a very important and powerful memorial to the Jews who were killed during the Holocaust, and the L.A. Mayer Memorial Museum of Islamic Art houses the famous Salomons collection of Bruquet watches from Paris. Take a walk through the Garden Tomb that is said to be the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and his tomb, the Church of St. John where John the Baptist was born, Mary’s Tomb, and the Church of All Nations, which houses the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus spent the night in prayer before being betrayed by Judas. You might also want to check out the stained glass windows by Chagall at Hadassah Medical Center, the beautiful interior design at Jerusalem’s Great Synagogue, the Gate of Damascus, the Yemin Moshe Windmill, and the beautiful architecture at the Supreme Court. With all these historical, religious, and archeological sites, Jerusalem deserves to be seen by everyone.
